The Sustainable City launches educational webinars for deeper understanding of sustainability practices in the built environment

As the world resumes its pace and gradually inches towards a post-Covid phase with a deepened acceptance and understanding of the concept of sustainability, The Sustainable City, Middle East’s first fully-operational sustainable community, has launched the first edition of a series of educational webinars. The webinars aim to grant interested individuals in The Sustainable City an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of sustainability in the built environment.

Prepared and compiled by the education & knowledge arm of Diamond Developers: SEE Institute, the webinar series has been summarised and packaged into seven interactive modules including topics like Climate Change and the SEE Concept, Food, Energy, Water, Building Materials & Products, Mobility, and Waste. The Zoom webinars are free to attend and open for all. They are timed at 30 minutes, each followed by 15 minutes of an interactive question and answer session.

Covering implementation, and challenges in practicing sustainability, the webinars will be hosted by Mr Karim El-Jisr, chief sustainability officer (social) at Diamond Developers.

It is noteworthy that SEE Institute, which works on monitoring the community’s performance and creating a living lab to test the latest innovations and technologies in the city, will also provide specialised courses in sustainability, in addition to hosting conferences and seminars at its headquarters, which, once opened, will be one of the first energy-positive buildings in the region, producing up to 140 per cent clean energy.
